The revolution in Egypt saw the end of an era, Mubarak is out and the voice of the people have been heard. Right? Maybe, we have yet to see what the new leadership of egypt will look like it, will Egypt become the new model of free nations in the Middle East, will she inspire a genartation of free thinkers that will change the world? Or, will Egypt beccome like Iran? Will Egypt shut out freedom and liberty, close her university doors to new ideas and a bright future? Will Egypy become a becon of hope to the millions of the oppressed or will it Iran?
It has been reported today that tens of thousands have taken to the streets to protest the current government of Iran. So starts the Iranian Revolution, part II. This Revolution started on facebook and Twitter, not with guns and tanks, but let us make no mistake that is how it will end. Iran is not Egypt, Egypt was bought and paid for by the US, if the Army had infact attacked the masses the US would have pulled all funding and support.
Iran will send in the tanks and the troops. Thousands will be killed and tens of thousands arrested. Iran has nothing to lose from a crack down and everything to lose if they let them continue.
Even though it looks bleak for Iran and her small revolution, there is hope. Just like in Egypt the revolution will grow and spread from border to border. Twitter and Facebook will pass the message of freedom to the millions of Iranians who yearn to be free.
Sounds good right? I think so, a free Iran, I would take that over what there is now anyday of the week. But, what happenes if the revolution is crushed under the weight of T-72 tanks and the boot of conscripts? This too is possible, trust me, if the world media fails to cover this like they did in Egypt then the army will move in and crush them.
So on the eve of the revolution that is about to overtake Iran I hope and pray that freedom will carry the day.
